Elena Covalciuc is a soloist in the Moscow Ballet company performing the vivacious and demanding Russian Variation in Act II of the Great Russian Nutcracker. Elena is also one of six Audition Directors touring the US and Canada auditioning and rehearsing local children in cities on the tour as part of Moscow Ballet’s “Dance with Us” program. Elena studied the Vaganova Ballet method and graduated from the National Ballet School of Moldova in Chisinau in 1998. She was immediately invited to join the company of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Moldova. As a Soloist there she has performed such classic ballet roles as Small Swan and soloist of the Hungarian dance in "Swan Lake”; Kitri’s girlfriend and the Gypsy dance solo in "Don Quixote " ; a contemporary Juliet in “Romeo and Juliet”; The Canary Fairy, young and older Lady in Waiting and the Kitten in the Kitten and the Wolf in “Sleeping Beauty"; The Russian Variation and Chinese Variation in “Great Russian Nutcracker“ and girlfriend and the Mazurka solo in “Coppelia".
