Moscow Ballet Audition Director and Soloist Anna Radik has performed with the company for five years as Soloist in Act II of the Great Russian Nutcracker. 2016 is Anna’s first tour as Audition Director. Anna was born and raised in Kiev, Ukraine and was accepted as a Ballet Student at the National Ballet Academy in Kiev and at the National University of Art in Ukraine. After 8 years of study, Anna graduated and joined the Caracalla Dance Theatre in Lebanon and a year later joined the Compania de Dansa de Lisboa in Portugal and other dance companies where she danced for several years. For nearly a decade Anna was a member of the Kiev Music Theatre in Ukraine and she has been on tour to over 30 countries all over the world. She just returned from a tour to China with the Kharkov National Theater performing the classic Swan Lake and La Bayadere. The principal dancers were stars from the Mariinsky (formerly Kirov) Theatre Oksana Skorik and Levgeny Ivanchenko.
Anna performs many roles in the Great Russian Nutcracker including the Chinese Variation, Russian Variation, Act I ‘s magical Kissy Doll and the demanding acro-balletic Arabian Variation. From the Jackson Free Press in 2012, “[In] the traditional and entertaining Chinese variation...the female lead, Anna Radik, easily had the highest arabesque. In Washington DC Jessica Vaughan of DC Metro and Theatre Arts writes,” Every dancer in the company was very talented and so precise with every dance, but the Russian Variation dancers Anna Radik and Vitaly Shvets let loose with Cossack dancing that had them spinning around the stage.” And Anna “wows” Canadian audiences as well. Calgary Herald Dance Critic Stephan Bonfield comments, “The standout Arabian Variation pas de deux, [was] danced breathtakingly beautifully by Anna Radik and Artem Kadurin, with sinewy grace and exquisitely contortioned smoothness of line.
