Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is coming to Fayetteville and the company is looking for local ballet students ages 6 to 18 years for children’s roles. Local youth can audition to be Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Russian Snow Maidens and more roles through Moscow Ballet’s communityDance with Us students in the snow forest engagement “Dance with Us” program. Auditions are led by a Moscow Ballet company member/pedagogue in each performance city this fall. The “Dance with Us” program has brought over 100,000 aspiring ballerinas and ballerinos on stage with the professionals over the past 27 years. Auditions are free (although there may be a casting fee and a minimal rehearsal fee), hand-sewn costumes are provided, and dress rehearsal is on stage with the Russian company the day of the performance.

About the Crown Complex

Welcome to the home of Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker in Fayetteville! Seating just over 2,400, the Crown Theatre showcases a wide range of theatrical events, concerts and comedy shows. The theatre hosts a number of concerts, family and special entertainment as well as a variety of Broadway productions to compliment an assortment of community events. The flagship venue of the Crown Complex, the Coliseum, opened in October of 1997 and has continued to set records. Located in the heart of Cumberland County, this versatile, state-of-the-art facility contains an ice floor for hockey and ice shows and easily converts into the ideal venue for world-class concerts, sporting events and other performances.

Fayetteville Ballet Partnership: The Charlotte Blume School of Dance

Nutcracker wouldn’t be Nutcracker without the local Children’s cast! Dancing along side the full professional Russian cast are local Fayetteville children from the Blume School. The Charlotte Blume School of Dance offers instruction in Classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Children's Dance. With a graded training system for all disciplines, as well as a diversified and growing staff, the Blume School offers high quality training in all areas of dance. For over forty years Charlotte Blume and the teachers of the Blume School have taught some 15,000 students at its studio (located in the heart of Hamount) and in after-school programs in Cumberland County. The Blume school has been instrumental in introducing arts programming to North Carolina Schools and continues to provide after school programs in Cumberland County Schools. All Intermediate and Advanced classes are held at the main studio located at 1312 Morganton Rd. The Blume studio also is the home studio for the North Carolina State Ballet.
