Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is coming to Farmington and the company is looking for local ballet students ages 6 to 18 years for children’sDance with Us student snowflakes roles. Local youth can audition to be Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Russian Snow Maidens and more roles through Moscow Ballet’s community engagement “Dance with Us” program. Auditions are led by a Moscow Ballet company member/pedagogue in each performance city this fall. The “Dance with Us” program has brought over 100,000 aspiring ballerinas and ballerinos on stage with the professionals over the past 27 years. Auditions are free (although there may be a casting fee and a minimal rehearsal fee), hand-sewn costumes are provided, and dress rehearsal is on stage with the Russian company the day of the performance.

The Gift of Christmas Tour Comes to Farmington Wednesday, December 11

Moscow Ballet brings the Gift of Christmas Tour to Farmington with Great Russian Nutcracker performances bringing holiday magic to life and creating unforgettable memories for all ages. The company performs at the Farmington Civic Center on Wed., Dec. 11, 7 p.m. only.

Moscow Ballet makes Christmas gift giving easy with the holiday performance that delights all ages…from the life-sized Kissy Doll to the fierce, red-eyed Rat King; and the Russian Troika Sleigh bringing Masha through the Snow Forest to the Land of Peace and Harmony which is populated with 10 foot tall dancing puppets, exotic flying birds and dancing couples from the world’s five great heritages.

About Host Studio: Dance Connection

Dance Connection was opened in the Four Corners town of Farmington, New Mexico in 2007 by Lori Downs. The studio’s mission is to provide dance instruction and encouragement to dancers of all ages and ability levels in an environment that supports a lifelong love and appreciation of dance.  With classes in ballet, pointe, jazz, modern, contemporary, tap and hip hop, students are instructed to be disciplined, responsible and technically proficient dancers.  Their teachers love to share their enthusiasm, devotion and expertise in dance.  Small class sizes give our instructors the opportunity to provide individualized attention to students to assist them in achieving their personal artistic promise.

About The Farmington Civic Center

The Farmington Civic Center hosts a variety of concerts, plays, and performances throughout the year, including musical theater productions, such as Mary Poppins: the Broadway Musical. It is also a hub for local musicians to perform and offers workshops in theater for the Farmington community. The Civic Center is conveniently located in the center of downtown Farmington, and just a few blocks from US 64.
