Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is coming to Charlotte and the company is looking for local ballet students ages 6 to 18 years for children’s roles. Local youth can audition to be Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Russian Snow Maidens and more roles through Moscow Ballet’s communityDance with Us students as snowflakes engagement “Dance with Us” program. Auditions are led by a Moscow Ballet company member/pedagogue in each performance city this fall. The “Dance with Us” program has brought over 100,000 aspiring ballerinas and ballerinos on stage with the professionals over the past 27 years. Auditions are free (although there may be a casting fee and a minimal rehearsal fee), hand-sewn costumes are provided, and dress rehearsal is on stage with the Russian company the day of the performance.

The Gift of Christmas Tour Comes to Charlotte Sunday, December 29

Moscow Ballet brings the Gift of Christmas Tour to Charlotte with Great Russian Nutcracker performances bringing holiday magic to life and creating unforgettable memories for all ages. The company performs at Ovens Auditorium on Sun., Dec. 29, 1 p.m. matinee and 5 p.m.

Moscow Ballet makes Christmas gift giving easy with the holiday performance that delights all ages…from the life-sized Kissy Doll to the fierce, red-eyed Rat King; and the Russian Troika Sleigh bringing Masha through the Snow Forest to the Land of Peace and Harmony which is populated with 10 foot tall dancing puppets, exotic flying birds and dancing couples from the world’s five great heritages. 

About Host Studio: Legacy Dance Company

Legacy Dance Company’s mission is to spread the love of movement to today’s youth. Dance builds self-esteem, coordination, flexibility, strength, as well as imagination while improving loco-motor skills. The studio provides a healthy and effective way of instructing dance by merging experience, knowledge of child development and of dance; ultimately promoting and encouraging self-discovery and confidence among all dancers. The studio’s talented staff brings years of professional experience from the national stage to local productions. Staff members are highly qualified and conduct classroom instruction with artistic excellence in mind. Our instructors have trained with some of the best in the industry such as Nancy Giles, Barry Lather, Joe Tremaine, Dee Caspery, Caroline Lewis-Jones and Justin Giles just to name a few. 

About the Ovens Auditorium

Ovens Auditorium, located adjacent to Bojangles’ Coliseum on East Independence Boulevard, opened along with the original Coliseum in 1955. For nearly half a century, world-greats have graced the stage of Ovens Auditorium. With a seating capacity of approximately 2,460, Ovens has hosted more than 7,000 events, attended by 9.4 million people.

Ovens Auditorium has hosted top events and performances from the Billy Graham Crusade to Bob Hope and Bruce Springsteen.
