The Gift of Christmas Tour Comes to Charlotte Sunday, December 29

Moscow Ballet brings the Gift of Christmas Tour to Charlotte with Great Russian Nutcracker performances bringing holiday magic to life and creating unforgettable memories for all ages. The company performs at Ovens Auditorium on Sun., Dec. 29, 1 p.m. matinee and 5 p.m.

Moscow Ballet makes Christmas gift giving easy with the holiday performance that delights all ages…from the life-sized Kissy Doll to the fierce, red-eyed Rat King; and the Russian Troika Sleigh bringing Masha through the Snow Forest to the Land of Peace and Harmony which is populated with 10 foot tall dancing puppets, exotic flying birds and dancing couples from the world’s five great heritages. 

About Host Studio: Gaston Dance Theatre

Gaston Dance Theatre is the premier non-profit dance studio in Gaston County.  Established in 1982 by founder Pat Wall, GDT exists to stimulate interest in dance as a serious art form. For more than 30 years, Gaston Dance Theatre has offered excellence in dance instruction and community performance opportunities for dancers trained in ballet, jazz and modern. Weekly technique classes are offered in Classical and Contemporary Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Tap.  Creative Movement and Kinderdance classes are available for our youngest dancers, ages 3-6.  GDT offers small classes to best meet the specific needs and promote the individual growth of each student.  The studio goal is to provide proper technical training and discipline while promoting self-expression and a healthy self-esteem.  This is a non-competitive school, focusing on teaching proper technique and the artistry of dance.

About the Ovens Auditorium

Ovens Auditorium, located adjacent to Bojangles’ Coliseum on East Independence Boulevard, opened along with the original Coliseum in 1955. For nearly half a century, world-greats have graced the stage of Ovens Auditorium. With a seating capacity of approximately 2,460, Ovens has hosted more than 7,000 events, attended by 9.4 million people.

Ovens Auditorium has hosted top events and performances from the Billy Graham Crusade to Bob Hope and Bruce Springsteen. Broadway Shows, symphony concerts, opera, dance recitals and nationally known speakers have also found a home at Ovens, along with countless thousands of graduates who have walked across its stage to receive their diplomas.
