Award Winning Dancers Cristina and Alexei Terentiev Lead 2010 Performance
It’s that time of year again… a time for family, friends and holiday traditions. Make your holidays memorable with a trip to see Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker.
Now in its 18th season, the Great Russian Nutcracker performance tour features exquisite Russian ballet dancers as well as incredible costumes, breathtaking backdrops and hand-crafted props. The tour—one that travels to cities on the east coast and another along the west coast—visits over 70 cities across the United States and Canada each year, including Yakima, WA and Missoula, MT.
The performance features 40 highly skilled, professional Russian ballet dancers, as well as a cast of local youth dancers—ages 7 to 16—in each city that had auditioned for the roles. This is a very exciting and rare opportunity for the communities to experience this world-renowned show, and watch local area youth shine alongside professional ballet dancers.
Cristina & Alexei Terentiev
This year, the west coast portion of the Great Russian Nutcracker tour features award winning ballet dancers, Cristina and Alexei Terentiev.
Cristina, who dances the lead role of Masha/Clara in Nutcracker, is also a leading ballerina with the Moldavian National Opera and Ballet Theatre and a former principal dancer with the Atlantic Ballet Theater in Canada. She received a Gold Medal from the IBC Varna. Alexei, similar to his wife, is a multiple award winning ballet dancer. In addition to dancing with Moscow Ballet, he is a soloist with the Moldavian National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
As a couple, they have been awarded Gold Medals from the International Ballet Competitions (IBC) Varna (the top such competition worldwide) for “Best Partnership” and “Best Original Contemporary Choreography.” In Great Russian Nutcracker, Cristina and Alexei each bring their unique, unparalleled heritage to life on stage, alongside fellow professional and highly talented ballet dancers.
