Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Natalia Gubanova is a graduate of the world famous Vaganova Ballet Academy. She is a laureate of the 2010 International Ballet Competition in Athens; a recipient of a diploma from the International Ballet Competition of Romania 2010; and a prize-winner at the International Ballet Competition in Rieti, Italy in 2007 and 2009. Upon graduation, Natalia joined the Russian Ballet under People’s Artist of Russia Vyacheslav Gordeev as a classical ballet dancer.
Natalia’s repertoire includes the Principal Role in the world’s greatest ballets, including The Nutcracker with choreography by Vasily Vaynonen; Sleeping Beauty as Aurora and the Lilac Fairy with choreography by Marius Petipa and the revised version by Konstantin Sergeyev; Romeo and Juliette as Juliette with the classic choreography of L. Lavrovsky; Swan Lake as Pas de Trois with choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov; Giselle in the Peasant Pas de Deux and choreography by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot and Marius Petipa; Don Quixote as the Dryads’ Queen with choreography by Alexander Gorsky; and many other roles of classical repertoire.
Natalia is a guest soloist in Moscow as well as a participant of Ballet Gala Concerts across Russia and abroad. She also teaches women’s company class and coaches the corps de ballet. She has toured performing these roles to critical acclaim throughout Europe, Asia and North America. She keeps on expanding her knowledge by participating in special programs for ballet teachers at the Royal Ballet School in London and L'école de Danse de l'Opéra National de Paris and she was a guest teacher for Elite Ballet Summer Intensive in Mexico in 2016 and at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in 2018.
