Moscow Ballet includes Youth Choirs as vocal accompaniment to the triumphant “Waltz of the Snowflakes”
The pre-professional choirs welcome patrons to Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker by performing their own holiday repertoire in venue lobbies. The Wunderkind Choirs also accompany the entire company in the “Waltz of the Snowflakes” scene which closes Act I. The choristers range in age from 7 to 18 years and practice with experienced and award-winning music directors prior to their performances. The live performance experience, in some of the country’s finest music halls, is an invaluable and rare opportunity for the young vocalists.
“Local children as part of Moscow Ballet's "Musical Wunderkind" program have a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Cleveland Plain Dealer 2014. The rare pairing of young singers and professional ballerinas performing for live audiences teaches performance skills that traditional lessons do not. Moscow Ballet Musical Wunderkind choirs and string musicians perform in 25+ cities on the annual 80 city tour.
Moscow Ballet’s Musical Wunderkind program develops Moscow Ballet’s educational mission to provide arts enrichment for the local communities it performs in, as do the company’s Musical Wunderkind Strings, New Horizons and Dance with Us programs.
