Svetlana (Lana) Popova

Moscow Ballet welcomes the multi-talented Lana Popova as Audition Director and Soloist to the 2016 Great Russian Nutcracker tour! Lana is a very experienced ballerina, teacher and artist. Lana performed on ballet tours to New Zealand, Australia and China, Mexico, Europe; including Spain, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, India, and more countries. She was the Head Assistant of the Delegation of the North-East of Moscow to the Para-Olympic Winter Games in Sochi 2014. She was Organizer and Director of the First International Festival of Moscow Tolerant” in 2013 and she taught Theater Disciplines at the Moscow Pedagogical College. Lana also worked as a Choreographer for the Russian company Saga Technics from 2008 to 2010 and ran more projects in theatrical performances, choreographed for the Moscow Sport School of Calisthenics and took part in dance productions and performances of the Natalia Sats Children’s Theatre of Ballet and Musical Drama in Moscow (which Moscow Ballet brought to the US on the very first Great Russian Nutcracker tour in 1993).


Lana attended the Moscow Ballet School at the Institute of Contemporary Art and received her Ballet Diploma there in 2006.  Lana also received a diploma in Director of Show Programs and Events/Celebrations in 2013 from the Moscow Institute of the Contemporary Art, Department of Directing of Show Programs. In addition she attend the Moscow Music School, focusing in piano in the class of 1999 to 2006. Lana has been teaching individual and group choreography to children and adults since 2005.  In 2010 Lana received a Certificate of Participation for attending the first Interuniversity Scientific-Practical Conference on Art Therapy including theory, practice, and models of education in Moscow.  In 2011 she received a Certificate of Art Therapy from attending the First International Festival of Art Therapy titled «Creative Europe» in Obzor in the Republic of Bulgaria.  Lana continued her practical training and in 2012 she participated in the Scientific and Practical Training in the work of the East-European Association of Art Therapy in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria. She received a Certificate Art Therapist and became a member of the East-European Association of Art Therapy.

Lana has also received several awards and honors for her dancing, theatre and artistic expertise. Awards include 2013 - The first International Festival «Moscow Tolerant» - Award for Directing the Festival. 2007 – Germany (Berlin, Dresden, Leipzig) – Diploma for active participation in the development of Russian-German cultural relations. 2005 – The Republic of Bulgaria (Sofia, Plovdiv) – Laureate of the International Junior Festival of Choreographic Collectives. 2004 – The Republic of Hungary, Budapest – Laureate of the International Contest of Young Talent. And 2001 – The Republic of Georgia (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi) – The Diplomat of the International Festival «The Sunny world of Childhood» a special prize for choreography, and for being the youngest participant of the Festival.
