Moscow Ballet’s company of almost 40 dancers is the only internationally touring ballet group to perform to critical acclaim in over 75 North American cities annually. The renowned, award-winning principal dancers and corps de ballet thrill audiences with their expertise, dramatic expression and stunning leaps, drops and turns. The production is known for its dedication to world peace placing Act II in the “Land of Peace and Harmony,” featuring a cannon that shoots roses and a stunning 2-dancer “Dove of Peace” with a 20’ wingspan. All ages feel the spirit of the season at Great Russian Nutcracker performances through the beauty of romantic hand-sewn costumes, 9 shimmering backdrops with authentic splashes of Russian history and fanciful effects such as; life-sized Matrushka (Nesting) Dolls; a 3-headed Rat King and a Troika Sleigh ride through the magical Snow Forest (with falling snow) escorted by Father Christmas and Snow Maiden.

Local Audition Information Coming Soon for Moscow  Ballet's 2015 Performances!


Moscow Ballet’s “Dance with Us” Audition Director Carolina Siscanu will be present to select 60 student dancers to perform side-by-side with the professional company of 40 Russian dancers. Students are cast in ancillary roles of Party Children, Mice, Snowflakes, Angels, and more. Applicants must be between 7 and 16 years old, have at least one year of ballet training, dress in dance attire and may bring Pointe shoes. The experience of working and performing with professional ballerinas is often a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring dancers. “The payoff at the end of the rehearsals is the opportunity to be part of Christmas magic, to dance under shimmering lights with award-winning Russian dancers against exquisite hand-painted sets. It’s great for the kids. They get to dance in a professional production,” affirms Margaret Engle of Charlottesville Ballet School.

Power and Grace School of Performing Arts is under the direction of Christy Posey Holden. Christy has been teaching dance in the Shreveport/Bossier area for over twenty-five years and is the only instructor in Louisiana certified by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance. Power & Grace offers multiple dance studios, two locations, state of the art facilities, and the finest in dance training. Curriculum includes ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop, danceline, and preschool classes. With locations in Shreveport and Bossier and expansive multiple studios in each location, Power & Grace is able to offer flexibility in scheduling classes for children and adults. Power & Grace is committed to providing positive reinforcement to encourage high self-esteem and a positive attitude in each child.


altFeist Weiller Cancer Center is a department of LSU Health Shreveport and an academic facility with board certified specialists who work together to provide comprehensive cancer care. Oncologists, hematologists, surgeons, radiologists, therapists and basic science researchers collaborate to offer preeminent cancer research, cancer prevention programs and excellent treatment to cancer patients. Medical oncologists and hematologists at Feist-Weiller Cancer Center are board certified in internal medicine, then specially trained and certified to develop the most appropriate and personalized treatment plan for each patient. Among the signature strengths of Feist-Weiller Cancer Center is translational cancer research in which physicians and scientists take clinical problems from the bedside to the research laboratory where solutions are generated that come back to the bedside. This type of research allows the scientific discoveries to more rapidly become practical applications that can be used in assessment and treatment of cancer patients.

altThe Strand Theatre opened its doors in Shreveport LA in 1925 as an opera house and movie theater. The venue's first production was held that year—the comic opera, The Chocolate Soldier. Originally nicknamed the "Grandest Theatre in the South" and the "Million Dollar Theatre," the Strand has undergone several renovations and restoration projects throughout its nearly 90-year history. It is now listed as the State Theater of Louisiana and has become a popular venue for a variety of theater performances, concerts and other live shows, as well as movies.
