The experience of working and performing with professional ballerinas is often a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for aspiring dancers. Former Somerville NJ Gotta Dance student Hillary-Marie Michael, now director of Jersey Tap Fest, says, “From start to finish … it is an excellent way for dancers to understand both the discipline and fun involved in a professional ballet production.”

Desert Eagle Productions (DEP) is proud to offer a variety of different performing arts techniques including: hip hop, ballet, contemporary, jazz, technique, stretch, musical theater, tap, break dancing, popping, krumping, belly dancing, yoga, tai chi and vocal training.  This performing arts facility uses the art form of dance of all styles to motivate kids to stay in school, stay away from drugs and gangs, and to be the best they can be. Representing a dance scene which has been growing for a number of years in the El Paso area, Desert Eagle has supported that community to the very best of its ability!

Desert Eagle Productions was founded in 2003 by Gerard Gibbs. The company planted its first roots as a music and entertainment venture.  In the summer 2004 Gerard was approached by a little girl who saw him teaching a Quinceanera at a karate facility.  She asked him to teach her how to dance and within in 6 weeks of having only one student D.E.P. grew to 11.  To date Desert Eagle Productions has had over 1000 dancers step unto its floors!

Gerard Gibbs trained in some of the best arenas of dance in his 24 year career in states such as New York, Florida, California, Atlanta, Idaho, New Mexico, and Texas. His resume includes performing with or opening for numerous acts such as M.C. Hammer, Destiny’s Child, Pink, Shaba Ranks, Soulja Boy, K.C. and Jojo, Third Base, Aaron Neville, and others. Desert Eagle’s passion for dance is translated into not only the community but through the dancers coming out of DEP. DEP’s own, Donovan Gibbs was featured on “So You Think You Can Dance Season 10.”

The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center opened in 1930 as both a modern film house and a stage production venue. Commonly referred to as "The Showplace of the Southwest," the Plaza was once the largest theater between Dallas and Los Angeles.

It boasts elaborate architecture and decor, and has hosted concerts, stage shows, and movies. The Plaza will soon feature such acts as the Blue Man Group, B.B. King, and the Broadway production of West Side Story.
