Denver Area Student Dancers Joined Moscow Ballet
Russians on Stage in December!

Denver area youth were selected to perform alongside 40 Moscow Ballet professionals in the 20th Anniversary Great Russian Nutcracker at the Paramount Theatre in December. Cherry cast-list-1Creek Dance was the host studio for Moscow Ballet’s Student Program in Denver. A Moscow Ballet soloist serves as Audition and Rehearsal Director.

Every year since 1993, Moscow Ballet has engaged local ballet students and host studios in cities on the North American tour, offering them the most unusual opportunity of auditioning, rehearsing, and performing in a professional setting. Children ages 7 to 16, under 5”2” and with some ballet training are eligible to audition.

altBuilt by Temple Buell for Publix Theatres in 1930, the Paramount Theatre instantly surpassed the standards of the dozens of theatres that lined the streets of Denver and has remained the only local theatre of its time to maintain its original dignity and glamour.  It is significant not only as an excellent illustration of Art Deco design and craftsmanship and a tribute to an architect who made considerable contributions to the Denver region, but as a unique reflection of a broad social and cultural phenomenon that prevailed in the early decades of the 20th century in Denver and the entire nation.

The Paramount Theatre was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980 and was declared an historic landmark by the City of Denver in 1988.  Today, The Historic Paramount Theatre remains a vibrant, multi-event facility where Denver Metro residents enjoy a wide variety of entertainment options each year.  From rock concerts to dance performances, comedy to lectures and movies to Wurlitzer organ performances, the Historic Paramount Theatre remains a top choice in Denver's entertainment scene.
