Announcing Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker Premiering in Tacoma at Broadway Center's Pantages Theater on November 9 ~ Tickets On Sale Now

The one and only Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker will premiere in Tacoma on Thursday, November 9, 7:00 pm at Broadway Center's Pantages Theater. Tickets are on sale now. 

All ages are invited to celebrate Christmas with the Moscow Ballet company of almost 40 ballerinas and danseurs on their 25th Anniversary Tour of North America in 2017. Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is known for its award-winning Principal Dancers, lavish costumes in the style of the Victorian era, many backdrops created by “La La Land’ Set Concept designer Carl Sprague, and its Russian focus including life-sized Matryoshka Dolls, Russian folk legends Ded Moroz (Father Christmas) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) and Troika Sleigh. Adults and children enjoy the special effects of the flapping winged owl on the Grandfather clock, the growing 50 ft tall Christmas Tree, the Dove of Peace with a 20ft wingspan, and of course, the leaps, spins, and extraordinary moves of the company all performed to Tchaikovsky’s complete and incomparable score.

25 Years and 2 Generations Strong: Local Ballet Students Perform Side-by-Side with Moscow Ballet Pros in Tacoma on November 9

25 years and 2 generations later, over 75,000 local ballet students, ages 6 to 18 with at least 1 year of ballet training, perform side-by-side with Moscow Ballet pros. In Tacoma, the “Dance with Us”  cast will perform their roles in the Great Russian Nutcracker on Thursday, November 9, 7:00 pm at Broadway Center's Pantages Theater, this holiday season

“It was such an amazing opportunity for our young dancers to grow and see how a professional company works...the costumes were breathtaking, says Julia Zhmutski of Moscow Ballet Host Dance Studio Julia’s Dance Academy in Oklahoma City. The ballet students, who study at ballet schools in the area, auditioned for Moscow Ballet Audition DirectorAnastasiya Gnatyshyn in the fall and rehearsed their roles at the Moscow Ballet Host Dance Studio Dance Theatre Northwest The children’s roles are as Party Children, Small Mice, Snowflakes, Snow Sprites, Snow Maidens, and Act II’s Variations of the world’s five great heritages.
