About the McAllen Performing Arts Center

Opening in the fall of 2016, the new McAllen Performing Arts Center will present a wide variety of nationally recognized productions of music, dance and theater to the citizens of South Texas.  The City of McAllen is committed to enhancing the arts and cultural experience by delivering the most advanced performing arts center south of San Antonio by bringing a broader variety of entertainment and live performance that has never been possible before in South Texas. The new center will feature adjustable acoustics to accommodate all genres of music from popular to symphonic orchestra; a four-story tower, with roof top terrace and VIP Lounge, all overlooking Oval Park and the McAllen Convention Center and monumental stairs with views to the outside; surrounding shopping, restaurants and hotels.

Announcing Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker Returning to McAllen Performing Arts Center on December 30 ~ Tickets On Sale Now.

The one and only Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker will return to McAllen, Saturday, December 30, 3:00 pm matinee and 7:00 pm at McAllen Performing Arts Center.

All ages are invited to celebrate Christmas with the Moscow Ballet company of almost 40 ballerinas and danseurs on their 25th Anniversary Tour of North America in 2017. Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is known for its award-winning Principal Dancers, lavish costumes in the style of the Victorian era, many backdrops created by “La La Land’ Set Concept designer Carl Sprague, and its Russian focus including life-sized Matryoshka Dolls, Russian folk legends Ded Moroz (Father Christmas) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) and Troika Sleigh. Adults and children enjoy the special effects of the flapping winged owl on the Grandfather clock, the growing 50 ft tall Christmas Tree, the Dove of Peace with a 20ft wingspan, and of course, the leaps, spins, and extraordinary moves of the company all performed to Tchaikovsky’s complete and incomparable score.

McAllen Area Ballet Students Called to Audition for Moscow Ballet’s Romana Dumanska on October 1 at Host Studio Royal Dance Center

McAllen area ballet students ages 6 to 18 are invited to audition on October 1, 12:00 pm, for Moscow Ballet Soloist and Audition Director Romana Dumanska at Host Dance Studio, Royal Dance Center, 901 Travis Street,  Suite 10,  McAllen TX, 78572.  The Moscow Ballet audition is open to students from dance studios across the city with a minimum one year of ballet training.

Ballerina Romana Dumanska will lead auditions and rehearse the young dancers in their assigned roles. Successful auditionees perform side-by-side with the Moscow Ballet company in the Great Russian Nutcracker in roles that were created exclusively for their age and skill levels such as Party Children, Mice, Snowflakes, Snow Maidens and more. Romana Dumanska  also leads the young dancers at dress rehearsal with the Russian company the day of the performance. This is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience for aspiring young dancers. The Dance-with-Us program is in its 25th year of auditioning and rehearsing student dancers in each tour city to perform with the professional company. Auditions are free, there may be a casting fee. Royal Dance Center was founded by Laura Marie Romero who is the dance academy director and choreographer.  She has staged events with artists including Shakira, Nina Sky, Daddy Yankee and Paula Yunis to name a few. She was Guest Judge for America’s Got Talent and choreographed special events such as Miss Belleza Latina’s talent numbers and Bobby Pulido’s music video, “Porque Algun Dia.”Laura Marie has twenty years experience teaching dance and guiding young artists on numerous stage performances. The studio offers ballet, aerial dance, hip hop, musical theater, zumba and more movement classes.
