Announcing the premiere of Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker at Macon City Auditorium on December 30 ~ Tickets On Sale July 7

The one and only Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker will premiere in  Macon on Saturday, December 30, 3:00 pm matinee at Macon City Auditorium. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 7. 

All ages are invited to celebrate Christmas with the Moscow Ballet company of almost 40 ballerinas and danseurs on their 25th Anniversary Tour of North America in 2017. Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is known for its award-winning Principal Dancers, lavish costumes in the style of the Victorian era, many backdrops created by “La La Land’ Set Concept designer Carl Sprague, and its Russian focus including life-sized Matryoshka Dolls, Russian folk legends Ded Moroz (Father Christmas) and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden) and Troika Sleigh. Adults and children enjoy the special effects of the flapping winged owl on the Grandfather clock, the growing 50 ft tall Christmas Tree, the Dove of Peace with a 20ft wingspan, and of course, the leaps, spins, and extraordinary moves of the company all performed to Tchaikovsky’s complete and incomparable score.

Macon Area Ballet Students Called to Audition for Moscow Ballet’s Olena Pedan on October 4 at Host Studio the Academy of Dance

Macon area ballet students ages 6 to 18 are invited to audition on Wednesday, October 4, 3:30pm, for Moscow Ballet Soloist and Audition Director Olena Pedan at Host Dance Studio the Academy of Dance, 438 S. Pleasant Hill Road, Warner Robins, GA 31088. The Moscow Ballet audition is open to students from dance studios across the city with a minimum one year of ballet training.

Ballerina Olena leads auditions and rehearse the young dancers in their assigned roles. Successful auditionees perform side-by-side with the Moscow Ballet company in the Great Russian Nutcracker in roles that were created exclusively for their age and skill levels such as Party Children, Mice, Snowflakes, Snow Maidens and more. Olena also leads the young dancers at dress rehearsal with the Russian company the day of the performance. This is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience for aspiring young dancers. The Dance-with-Us program is in its 25th year of auditioning and rehearsing student dancers in each tour city to perform with the professional company. Auditions are free, there may be a casting fee. The studio is veteran family-owned and operated for more than 45 years serving Houston and Peach counties. There is closed circuit classroom viewing and a family friendly reception area. There are Combo Classes and Recreational and Graded Levels offered 6 days per week affording a convenient schedule as well as 2wo fully equipped dance rooms with proper flooring. The studio offers dance workshops and performance opportunities throughout the year and there is a non-competitive performance company as well as competitive opportunities. The non-profit parent organization helps support the company  dancers.

About the Macon City Auditorium

Completed in 1925, the Macon City Auditorium is nestled in the historic district of downtown Macon and is a landmark listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Its monumental assembly hall seats 2,700 and its unique copper dome is reportedly the largest in the world. Adding even more to its splendor and stately architecture is the Doric-style limestone colonnade which surrounds three sides of the building at the balcony level. On the inside, the Great Hall seats 2,700. Over the stage, a breathtaking mural by Don Carlos Dubois and Wilbur Kurtz depicts Macon’s history from DeSoto’s visit in 1540 to WWI.
