Kansas City Area Ballet Students Called to Audition for Moscow Ballet’s Mariia Morari on Tuesday, September 5 at Ballet North

Kansas City area ballet students ages 6 to 18 are invited to audition on Tuesday, September 5, 5:00 pm for Moscow Ballet Soloist and Audition Director Maria Morari at Host Dance Studio, 6308 N. Prospect Ave., Gladstone, MO 64119.  The Moscow Ballet audition is open to students from dance studios across the city with a minimum one year of ballet training.

Ballerina Maria Morari will lead auditions and rehearse the young dancers in their assigned roles. Successful auditionees perform side-by-side with the Moscow Ballet company in the Great Russian Nutcracker in roles that were created exclusively for their age and skill levels such as Party Children, Mice, Snowflakes, Snow Maidens and more. Maria Morari also leads the young dancers at dress rehearsal with the Russian company the day of the performance. This is often a once-in-a-lifetime experience for aspiring young dancers. The Dance-with-Us program is in its 25th year of auditioning and rehearsing student dancers in each tour city to perform with the professional company. Auditions are free, there may be a casting fee. Sign up to audition today at www.nutcracker.com/auditions.

The selected children will perform in the Great Russian Nutcracker Friday, December 22, 7:00 pm at Arvest Bank Theatre at the Midland.  Find Tickets here www.nutcracker.com/your-city.

Every June, Ballet North presents a major ballet performance or festival in which all students of the school are invited to participate along with the company.  These exciting performance events are always built around a classic ballet such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Coppelia, La Fille Mal Gardee, or pieces from the extensive repertoire of Ballet North. Laura Reinschmidt founded Ballet North first as a school in 1977 and later as a non-profit company in 1994. The studio presents their students in a dignified manner that approaches, as closely as possible, a professional level of training and performance.  Ballet North’s unique approach allows young adults to explore principal and soloist roles in full-length ballets – roles normally reserved for professional dancers only. Ms. Reinschmidt feels that exposure to that kind of experience onstage is critical to anyone who wishes to dance professionally. Rather than appearing in minor children’s roles, Ballet North dancers are given the opportunity and responsibility of bringing a role to life. Graduates of Ballet North have danced with San Francisco Ballet, Boston Ballet, Tulsa Ballet, Illinois Ballet, Minnesota Ballet and Kansas City Ballet.
