Direct from Russia to El Paso, the classic Great Russian Nutcracker will entertain the whole family this Christmas.   Experience the exceptional dancing of award-winning principal artists and a company of nearly 40 classically trained dancers. With a 60-foot growing Christmas tree; hand-made costumes by Resident Designer Arthur Oliver; stunning, hand-painted sets designed by Academy Award nominee Carl Sprague, El Paso audiences are sure to be delighted.  Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker” receives critical acclaim in the over 100 cities they perform, from New York to Los Angeles, Miami to El Paso.

The production is dedicated to achieving world peace.  Act II is named “Land of Peace and Harmony” and features a rose-shooting cannon and stunning two-person “Dove of Peace” with a 20 foot wingspan.

Calling local student dancers to audition to perform side-by-side with the professional company in Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker in El Paso!

The selected children will perform in the Great Russian Nutcracker December 23 and 24 at Plaza Theatre. Moscow Ballet Soloist and Audition Director Mariia Skoruk will conduct auditions Sat., Sept. 24, 10:30 a.m.at Moscow Ballet’s local Host Dance Studio The Las Cruces School of Dance and Music, 1390 N. Main, Las Cruces, NM  88001 for dance students from the area. Student dancers, boys and girls, ages 7 to 17 years, and who have at least one year of ballet training, may audition for ancillary roles such as Party Children, Mice, Snowflakes, Angels and more.
