Since the first Great Russian Nutcracker in 1993, Moscow Ballet has traveled to 60 plus cities each year and auditioned local children for ancillary roles. Sixty cities x 60 childrens roles x 20 years equals 72,000 amazing ballet performance experiences! The opportunity to dance alongside the Russian pros is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for young dancers.

Moscow Ballet could not provide this opportunity without the support of our “Host Studios.” Auditions and rehearsals are held in the Host Studios in each city – some for 20 years!

FIRST PRIZE WINNER! Lenore Smith Dance Arts Centre – Kennedy Performing Arts received more votes than any other dance school. Ask someone you know who has taken dance lessons in Bakersfield in the last 60 years and there is a good chance you will hear the names Lenore Smith or Maidie DuFresnes. Beginning with Maidie DuFresnes, and continuing the tradition with Lenore Smith and Janie Kennedy, this studio has taught literally generations of Bakersfield residents to perform.
SECOND PLACE WINNER! Dyan Mulvey Dance Academy. A family-owned and operated business, the Dyan Mulvey Dance Academy offers courses for students from ages 3 to adult, beginner through advanced. THIRD PLACE WINNER! London School of Dance has a reputation for professional teachers and structured technique classes taught in a disciplined and caring atmosphere. Students receive instruction in dance theory and terminology, giving them a firm foundation for future advanced training. This school has worked with Moscow Ballet since the first Great Russian Nutcracker 1993!

Charlotte School of Ballet offers training to everyone who has an interest in the art of dance. Founded in 1968 by Gay Porter, training begins with the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus, one that is used successfully in eighty-two countries throughout the world, and continues into the Cecchetti Method. Students are not required to have any prior experience in ballet or any other form of dance in order to take classes at the Charlotte School of Ballet. The only necessity is the desire to learn!
En Pointe Danse provides a nurturing environment, inspiring the joy and passion of dance by fostering creative expression. They offer classes in creative movement, ballet, pointe, tap, and modern dance.
Saratoga School of Dance provides a family oriented, child friendly, environment for students from 16 months to adults. While the main emphasis is on age appropriate technique, equal importance is given to providing a fulfilling, fun environment. Terry Phillips, owner and principal instructor, has been teaching in Saratoga since 1975.

El Paso TX
Ballet Performing Art Center offers ballet in the Russian Vaganova style. The school participates in Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker and auditions are open to all ballet students in the El Paso area. Teacher Olga Balbocean is a former dancer with Ballet Russe in London; National Opera and Ballet Theater, Moldova; and as dancer /teacher with Moscow Ballet.

City Scape Dance has been a host studio for Moscow Ballet since 2002. Each year the studio is proud to host the Russian Audition Director and to hold auditions for up to 70 dancers to perform in the Great Russian Nutcracker with the professional dancers from Russia.
San Diego CA
Neisha’s Dance Academy offers dance lessons in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, pilates, parent/toddler, musical theater, acting, and more. The new state-of-the-art dance and music studio spans over 7,800 square feet on two floors. Parents view their dancers through live-feed plasma monitors in lounge seating located in the new lobby.
