(Berkshires, MA) January 16, 2013 – Akiva Talmi Presents Inc. (ATP) concludes the largest and most successful tour of the Great Russian Nutcracker in its 20-year history of presenting in the US and Canada. Moscow Ballet'’s (MB) two simultaneously traveling companies, with about 40 dancers each, delivered 100 top quality performances in November and December. 2000+ seat venues sold out from the east (Atlantic City, Bethesda, Baltimore, Fairfax) to the midwest (Chicago and Minneapolis), to the west (Los Angeles) and south (San Antonio, Ft Myers). The tour reached double digit growth in ticket sales over the prior year. Visitor traffic to www.nutcracker.com increased 16% over 2011'’s visits and was fueled by emerging markets including San Antonio, El Paso, and Midland/Odessa as well as by an increased presence in the larger DMAs of: L.A., San Francisco, Washington DC, and Dallas.

In addition, the 2012 tour received artistic recognition: “Honored Artists of Ukraine” Olga Kifyak and Viktor Shcherbakov were invited to present at a National Press Club Newsmaker event December 14 in Washington D.C. altOn the West tour Karyna Shatkovskaya and Vladimir Tkachenko, multi award-winning principals, were praised by press and public. St Paul Pioneer Press’ Rob Hubbard says, “She's a lithe, smoothly flowing ballerina who dominated every scene she graced.” Moscow Ballet’s new choreography for the signature Dove of Peace role was created in homage to Bolshoi Ballet dancer and original Great Russian Nutcracker choreographer Stanislav Vlasov. The two dancers, who created one bird with a 20 foot wingspan, were an instant critical success. From the Jackson Free Press, home of the only North American International Ballet Competition, “[Sergey] Chumakov and [Elena] Petrachenko give the piece the sensuality it deserves…transporting the viewer to a mystical place …each move is executed with an elegance that makes it clear that they specialize in ballet.

ATP also created strategic partnerships for the anniversary year. MB and Capezio delivered 23 free, public events in cities across the country in anticipation of the tour. MB also fundraised through hospital visits by ballerinas, photo shoots, and other special events for Marie Osmond'’s Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH). Producer Akiva Talmi comments, “"Unlike many other artistic performing arts companies, our tour is 100% self sufficient. We use a new model: creating partnerships with mutual synergies and keeping up-to-date with market demands always keeping grasp of artistic integrity.”"

Education Programs: Moscow Ballet’'s three distinct education programs engaged over 9000 children this year.
1) President Obama visited daughter Sasha who performed as a mouse in the ‘Dance with Us’ program; 2) 6,000 elementary school kids each spent a week of immersion in ‘New Horizons: A Children’s Program for Life’; and alt3) Winners of major symphony orchestra youth concerto competitions, or ‘Musical Wunderkind, brought “Dying Swan” to life on stage. Sasha Obama participated in MB'’s (1) ‘Dance with Us’ program in which student dancers in 50 tour cities audition for MB soloists, rehearse and perform in ancillary roles in the professional performances. Since 1993, ‘Dance with Us’ has provided a generation of once-in-a-lifetime experiences for tens of thousands of North American student dancers, a program unparalleled by other professional touring ballet companies; (2) ‘New Horizons: A Children’s Program for Life,’ offers cultural immersion developing children’s confidence, coordination, and creativity while working one-on-one with Moscow Ballet soloists for a week, or a day, at a time. District School Board of Pasco County Supervisor Mary Grey states, “"Exposure to acclaimed …Moscow Ballet [dancers] …helps PLACE bring the highest quality experiences to our children;"” (3) New in 2012, ‘Musical Wunderkind’ features accomplished student musicians in tour cities accompanying the principal dancer in St. Saen’s' famous “Dying Swan” at the opening of the Great Russian Nutcracker providing a sought-after performance experience for the student musicians and bringing a snippet of classic ballet to thousands of audience members.

Fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) through ballerina visits, photo shoot with founders Donny and Marie Osmond, and other special events. alt Moscow Ballet soloist Olga Aru shares, "“It was difficult to see those small babies that sick...at least we brought some positive moments in their lives.”" CMNH touches the lives of 17 million children and their families every year, more families than any other children's charity.

Public events: 2000+ attend 23 free “Meet the Masters” events, co-partnered by Moscow Ballet and Capezio.

Moscow Ballet dancers, whose feet were measured and personally fitted by Capezio Master Fitter Paul Plesh, greeted fans, posed for photos, and demonstrated the proper care and use of pointe shoes. “There was a great turnout… and everyone was really excited to meet [Svetlana],” reports Baltimore’s Artistic Costumes. Capezio, which celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2012, continues to revolutionize the dance world with dancewear and footwear innovations for every dancer from beginner to professional.
