 (Berkshires, MA) Oct 29, 2013 –Multi-award winning principal dancers Shatkovskaya and Tkachenko present Russian prowess and beauty on Moscow Ballet North American Western Tour of the Great Russian Nutcracker, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. New in 2013, and exclusive to Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker, the Dove of Peace is danced by Kristina Kadashevych and Oleksii Knyazkov, who become a soaring Dove with a 20 foot wingspan.  Wearing one ten foot long wing each, the pair balances, dives and fly as one great white Dove. The creation is inspired by work of Stanislav Vlasov, former dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet and original Moscow Ballet Great Russian Nutcracker choreographer in 1993. In addition the company of 40 dancers perform Olympic-worthy leaps in the holiday performance for families with magical toys, falling snow and a growing Christmas tree. Karyna Shatkovskayareceived an award from the Second International Ballet Competition (IBC) in Astana, Kazakhstan and in 2010 was awarded “State Prize Winner.”  At 9 years she received her first award at the Kharkov Ballet Competition and she later received Diploma of Ukrainian Youth Ballet.  She also received Diploma of the First International Children and Youth Classical Dance Competition in Yalta, and 3rd prize at the Second International Competition of Youth in Yalta. In 2000 she won 2nd prize and received an award at the Third International Children and Youth Classical Dance Competition.  She is a graduated of Kharkov School of Culture and in 2006 she graduated from the higher level Kharkov Academy of Culture with a degree in Classical Choreography. She continued her studies under the direction of People's Artist of Ukraine S. Kolyvanova and with Honored Artist of USSR M. Bezzubikovym and Honored Artist of Russia I.

Vladimir Tkachenkowas trained at the Perm Choreographic School in the class of V. Alikina and graduated with honors. He made his professional debut in La Esmeralda as the humbling but demanding role of Hunchback Quasimodowith the State Kremlin Ballet of Moscow. Vladimir also perform s as a soloist in the Kharkov National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet rehearsing under the direction of People's Artist of Ukraine S. Kolyvanova and Honored Artist of the USSR M. Bezzubikovym. His repertoire includes principal roles in Nutcracker, Coppelia, Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, A Thousand and One Nights and other Russian classics.

Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is comprised of award-winning principals and corps de ballet who perform Olympic-worthy leaps, lifts and pirouettes in the classic holiday ballet.  To the delight of audiences of all ages, the artists bring humor, charm, athletic prowess and Russian flair to Tchaikovsky’s timeless score. The ballet dramatizes the traditional story of Masha meeting her “Prince” and, exclusive to Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker, adds a tribute to world peace as well.  The “Dove of Peace,” for which 2 dancers become one bird with a 20 foot wingspan, escorts Masha and Prince to the “Land of Peace and Harmony” where ambassadors from Hispanic, African, Russian, Asian, and European heritages entertain and offer symbolic gifts in the form of playful silk puppets. The 2013 production includes 200 all new, hand-embellished costumes designed by Shakespearean expert Arthur Oliver and created in St Petersburg’s oldest theatrical costume shop.  Celebrate the beauty of the holidays and the best of Russian ballet in one grand production of Moscow Ballet’sGreat Russian Nutcracker!
