alt(Berkshires, MA) Sept 3, 2013 –  Moscow Ballet and INVEST (Incubator for New Ventures in Emerging Sciences and Technologies) at Russell Sage College , Troy, New York, announce a Master Class (from 2:30 to 3:50pm) taught by Moscow Ballet soloist Svetlana Todinova for Sage Colleges dance students and a media reception discussing the new partnership. The press event will be 4:30-5:30pm Friday September 13 at the Esteves Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Hart Hall 304 at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York. Moscow Ballet soloist Svetlana Todinova and producer Akiva Talmi, INVEST founder and director Thomas Keane, and Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company founder and dance director Ellen Sinopoli will speak to the new partnership and take questions. Light refreshments will be served.

The INVEST incubator program at Russell Sage College is honored to partner with Moscow Ballet as an Artist-Entrepreneur in Residence within the Esteves Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The combined creative and innovative vision of Moscow Ballet and INVEST creates possibilities for the community of the Sage Colleges, the Troy community and the greater Albany region. Svetlana Todinova is a soloist and teacher for Moscow Ballet’s educational programs including “Dance with Us”, Summer Intensives and “New Horizons – A Children’s Program for Life.” She trained at the Rudolph Nureyev Russian State Ballet Academy (formerly Ufimsky Choreography School) named in honor of the legendary dancer who was also a graduate and she worked with Yuri Grigorovich at the Krasnodarsk Musical Theater of the Bashkiria Theater, famous for his virtuosic productions at Moscow’s Bolshoi Theater.

Ellen Sinopoli founded the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company in 1991, after settling in the Capital Region from Boston and New York City. The company is in residence at The Egg Center for the Performing Arts in Albany. As Artistic Director, Sinopoli has choreographed over 70 works and has received choreographic commissions from The Arts Center of the Capital Region, The Egg and others. Sinopoli has worked with over 25 artists from a variety of genres including mixed media, spoken word, music composition, sculpture and architectural design.  Noted for her talent as a master teacher, Sinopoli is on the teaching faculty of Russell Sage College, has taught at Skidmore, Union and Siena Colleges, as well as Albany Berkshire Ballet and Saratoga City Ballet, among others. She is one of the 100 “Women of Excellence” honored by the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce,  a recipient of the Arts Awards from the Albany/Schenectady League of Arts and received the “Educator of Excellence” award from ABC affiliate WTEN.

Thomas C. Keane, Ph.D. Professor of The Sage Colleges Faculty since 1996 and Director of INVEST is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Hunter College (CUNY). His current research interests include the integration of nanoscience learning experiences into the undergraduate curriculum (supported by NSF-CCLI grant), planetary atmospheric photochemistry, astrochemistry, chemical evolution and the origins of life (exobiology) to name a few. He is the recipient of the Presidential Vision Grant, Sage Colleges Robb Science Fellow, and is a NASA-GSRP Fellow.

Incubator for New Ventures in Emerging Sciences and Technologies (INVEST) located at Russell Sage College in Troy, New York, is an incubator/accelerator resource affiliated with the liberal-arts college. INVEST offers 21 wet-lab workstations suitable for nanotechnology, energy, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. A separate wing, The Esteves Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, has offices suites available to users of lab space and flexible for "dry" ventures in IT or other fields and micro-enterprise. INVEST is directed by Dr. Thomas Keane, who also directs the college's Laboratories for Interdisciplinary Studies in Emerging Sciences (ISES). The lab facility of INVEST has a direct connection with the college's science building, making it easily accessible to both faculty and students interested in internships with incubator tenants.

Moscow Ballet - In addition to the Great Russian Nutcracker, Moscow Ballet repertory includes classic ballets Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella and more. For over twenty years the company has performed 100 engagements annually in North America including in a majority of the top twenty demographic markets. Moscow Ballet has received critical acclaim from media outlets and was invited to present at 2 National Press Club Newsmaker events.   In addition to the public performances, the company’s mission and national platform enables it to share the Russian Vaganova training with over 5000 local dance students annually in the “Dance with Us” program. “New Horizons - A Children’s Program for Life” is an intensive cultural immersion project that benefits thousands of school children and on-going programs Musical Wunderkind, Master Classes and Summer Intensives also touch the lives of many more children and young adults. Under Talmi management Moscow Ballet has consistently delivered unparalleled Russian artistry and record sales for over 2 decades.
