Five days of 9 to 5 classes, including lunch, supported by Arts Midwest and Destination College grants
Moscow Ballet soloist to teach at the inaugural Summer Intensive in collaboration with the Orpheum Theatre and Knox College in Galesburg IL from August 1 to 5! Classes will be from 9 to 5 daily and at no cost to participants! Svetlana Todinova will give classes daily for “pre-en pointe” and “pointe” students on the Knox College campus. The Vaganova method, used by Moscow Ballet dancers, is the Russian standard perfected by Agrippina Vaganova (1879-1951). The syllabus is the gold-bar standard for ballet instruction today. Classes are limited to 20 participants each and the Intensive includes classes in nutrition, physical therapy, dance history, and dance in higher education. Lunch is provided, making a full day experience for all students. The Intensive is free due to generous grants from Arts Midwest and Destination College; however, participation will be determined by application and ability on a first-come, first-evaluated basis. Applications will be available online on June 20 at www.theorpheum.org or at the Orpheum Theatre box office. Call 309-342-2299 for more information, or click here to access applications.
