"Christmas without The Nutcracker? Unimaginable. Christmas with Moscow Ballet? Sublime."
Sioux City Journal

The Paramount Theatre opened to the public in 1930 as a movie house, presenting the film "Let's Go Native" to an estimated 20,000 patrons. While the historic building was originally designed to show silent films, it was soon equipped with a rare Wurlitzer twin-console organ, which produced various sound effects to accompany the films. The Paramount is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and maintains its original glamour and unique design. It hosts a variety of events, from music concerts and dance performances to lectures and comedy shows. Upcoming performances include ZZ Top, David Sedaris, and the Colorado Ballet.

Alexandra Elagina and Anatolie Ustimov will make their debut in the Western Tour of Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker 2011 holiday performance as Masha (aka Clara) and the Nutcracker Prince. These award-winning stars, and a corps of 30+ impeccably trained Russian dancers, performed the beloved Christmas story to critical acclaim in 2010 on the Eastern Tour...

“Thrilling, expansive and elegant” NY Times; “Aristocratic finesse” Plain Dealer; “Breathtaking, awe-inspiring” Charleston Today; “Spellbinding, fabulous” San Francisco Stark Insider; and DC’s, “Astounding.”

Set to Tchaikovsky’s famous score, Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker features 200 lavish costumes, larger-than-life Russian puppets and nine hand-painted backdrops that are embellished with 3-D effects... a must-see for the whole family!
