Twenty three year old Veronika Hordina is premiering with Moscow Ballet as Principal Ballerina on the 2016 Great Russian Nutcracker North American tour. She has already received many ballet awards and scholarships in her young career. She was invited to attend the Kharkov State Choreographic Academy and went on to the National State Choreographic College in Kiev, where she graduated, just three years later, in 2015.
In 2010, Veronika won First Place for her performance of “Halitska Terpsichore” at the International Youth Competition of Choreography in Kiev. The year before she was awarded a Diploma at the “Serge Lifar International Ballet Competition” in Donetsk and at the Tokyo Youth Choreographic Competition in Tokyo, Japan. In 2012 Veronika won First Place at the “Dance Beyond Borders” International Youth Competition of Choreography in Kiev. In 2013 she received a Silver Medal for her performance of “Khrustal’naya Tufel’ka” at the International Youth Competition of Choreography in Kharkov; she received a Diploma at the Grand Prix Mikhailovsky Theatre in St. Petersburg; and she was awarded a Scholarship from the Mayor of Kharkov. In 2014 Veronika received a Scholarship from the President of Ukraine and in 2015 she received Bronze Medal of “Grand Prix Kyiv 2015” at the International Ballet Festival in Kiev.
Despite her young age Veronika has performed the principal roles of Cinderella in Cinderella (as staged by Chernishov); Snow White in Snow White (as staged by Mayorov); the Mermaid in Mermaid by Ananian; Magnolia in Chipollino as staged by Mayorov; and Autumn in the Ball Masquerade as staged by Vladimir Malakhov. Her repertoire also includes Don Quixote Kitri solos and Pas a Deux in Act 3, Swan Lake Pas de Deux in Act 2, Nutcracker Pas de Deux Act 2, Paquita Grand Pas, La Bayadere Pas de Trois in Act 2, Pas due Deux by Balanchine, Forest Song, Giselle, La Bayadere as Gamzati Variation in Act 3, Sleeping Beauty Princess Aurora Act 3, and Grand Pas Classiqe . Veronika made Guest Appearances with “Kharkov’s Youth Choreographic Theatre Chinese tours 2010, 2011, and 2012; toured Japan in 2011 and toured with Kiev’s State Choreographic College to Munich, Germany 2014.
