Iryna Borysova, soloist from the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Ukraine in Kiev, partners with Ivan Sitnikov as Masha and Nutcracker Prince respectively for Moscow Ballet’s 25th North American Anniversary Tour of the Great Russian Nutcracker. Iryna is acclaimed as a Principal Ballerina belying her young years. She is the recipient of the Bronze Medal from Ukraine’s International Ballet Competition Named After "Serge Lifar" in Kiev in 2004. Iryna also was awarded as a Finalist at the Varna International Ballet Competition in 2004, the year she graduated from the National University. Iryna auditioned for and was accepted at the Kiev State Choreographic Institute, the highest regarded ballet school in Ukraine, under ballet teacher Obovskaya L.M. in 2001. After four years of ballet student and performances, Iryna was accepted to attend the Kiev National University of Culture and Arts and graduated form that historic and prestigious academy in 2004. Immediately on graduation Iryna was invited to join the National Opera of Ukraine quickly being named as First Soloist. Prior to that Iryna attended the Kyiv Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre for Children and Youth and was also designated as First Soloist.
Iryna has performed in the classic Principal Ballet roles including as Odette-Odile in 'Swan Lake' by P.Tchaikovsky; Princess Florina and Lilac Fairy in 'Sleeping Beauty' by P.Tchaikovsky; Clara/Masha in 'The Nutcracker' music by P. Tchaikovsky; Fairy in 'Cinderella' by S.Prokofiev; Pas de trois in 'Paquita' by L.Minkus and Gamzatti and Nikiya in 'La Bayadere' also by L.Minkus; Mirtha in 'Giselle' by A. Adana; Fate in 'Carmen Suite' by G.Bizet-R.Shcedrin; ‘Queen of Dryads’ and Kitri in 'Don Quixote' by L.Minkus; Oksana in 'Evenings on a Farmstead Nearby Dikanka' Y. Stankovych; and others. In her short and intense career Iryna has toured to and performed in Germany, Switzerland, France, Spain, Japan, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Greece, China, USA, Iceland, Baltic countries, Sweden, Finland and more.
