Moscow Ballet's Mission

Moscow Ballet brings internationally acclaimed Russian ballet to audiences across North America, while providing opportunities for fine arts enrichment and educational outreach for local communities.

The Russian company performs 100 engagements each year in U.S. and Canadian cities including most of the top 20 cities. Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker and other classical ballet repertoire entertains tens of thousands during the holiday season.

Moscow Ballet dancers are among the best in the world and have included “Honored Artists”, winners such as Alexei and Cristine Terentiev, of top awards at International Ballet Competitions around the globe and other competitions; others are multiple award-winners such as Olga Kifyak. Dancers and Ballet Masters have come from the Bolshoi and the Mariinsky/Kirov top 2 Russian companies and schools over the years. Original Great Russian Nutcracker choreographer Stanislav Vlasov was from the Bolshoi Company, former Ballet Masters Anatolie Emelianov graduated from the renowned Perm School and Valdimir Troschenko graduated with honors from the Kirov (Mariinsky) Academy. Set and production designer Valentin Federov is a student of legenrday Valery Leventhal of the Bolshoi Ballet. Moscow Ballet’s principal dancer Alexandra Elagina (2010 and 2011) was acclaimed by New York Times dance critic Alastair Macaulay and is now the prima ballerina at the Khazakstan National Ballet and Opera company. The list goes on.

In addition to performances, the national platform allows Moscow Ballet to share the renowned Russian Vaganova ballet training with dance students of all ages in the “Dance with Us” program. “New Horizons - A Children’s Program for Life” is an intensive cultural immersion project that has benefitted over 6000 school children to date. Each year Moscow Ballet presents workshops, master classes and auditions that touch the lives of thousands of children.

This national footprint also allows Moscow Ballet to engage in extensive partnerships with corporations and not-for-profit organizations. With a history of raising millions of dollars over the last 20 years, Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker tours have brought awareness and revenue to critically important organizations in the fields of cancer research, hospice, addiction treatment, AIDS treatment, and many more.
